Date Posted: Jun. 26, 2006

Engineering students will soon be able to take their education beyond the theoretical into the practical with the opening of the EK3 Innovation Lab in the Thompson Engineering Building. The Grand Opening of the lab is to take place on Monday June 26th at 4pm in the lobby of the Thompson building.

The EK3 Innovation Lab is a partnership between Western & EK3 Technologies. The lab will bring together Western students and faculty with EK3 Technologies and their technologies and clients.

The project was developed by Western Electrical and Computer Engineering, Associate Professor Hamada Ghenniwa in conjunction with EK3 Technologies. Engineering research in the lab will focus on that which involves integrating knowledge into computer systems in order to solve complex problems normally requiring a high level of human expertise. The advantage of the EK3 Lab for Western students is that it enables real-world training opportunities for graduate, undergraduate students and professional engineers.
