The City of London awards EK3 an award to mark the 2007 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

LONDON, ONTARIO – April 14, 2007  --  EK3 Technologies Inc. a London, Ontario-based global supplier of multi-media engineering solutions for digital merchandising is  pleased to accept London’s  Race Relations Recognition Award.

According to the City of London the Race Relations Recognition Award was established to acknowledge and recognize businesses that initiate and take actions to further understanding in London and to eliminate racial discrimination in the community.  Recipients must also help to heighten public awareness of positive race relations as a corporation and encourage ongoing activities which promote London as a welcoming city.

Harold Usher is a member of  London’s City Council and a strong advocate for building a culture of tolerance.  He says EK3 strives to create harmony.  “We know that people in this community come with different cultures, languages and beliefs. But once we get to this country we are all the same with common goals.” says Usher.  “With this award we show that there are businesses that practice inclusiveness so that others can follow.”  He says EK3 fulfills these objectives and is an outstanding example of a corporation that leads quietly by example.

EK3 is an engineering-based media company with deep roots at the University of Western Ontario where the EK3 Innovation Lab was founded in 2006.  Collaborative research with Western has been a hallmark of EK3 since it was founded by two graduate students in engineering almost ten years ago.   This relationship has given EK3 an opportunity to attract some of the best technical and creative minds in the field who bring intellectual vibrancy and a diverse social culture to the team - who hail from across North America, China, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Libya, Russia and Israel.

Paula Kaye is the Chief Financial Officer of EK3.  She says as a media and technology company, with very specific skill requirements, their most precious asset is human capital.  “We have a diverse work group at EK3 and speak ten languages,” says Kaye.  “I would say we do not have ethnic diversity as a goal but with it we have become a richer company.  We believe in getting the best person for the job.”  She says each employee helps build their talent pool and makes it easier to access, attract and retain highly skilled employees from around the globe.

EK3 delivers enterprise-class digital merchandising business solutions on a web-based application platform.  All EK3 solutions are designed to be extremely reliable and secure and have been deployed in some of the largest and fastest growing retail, restaurant chains and financial institutions in North America.  For more information, visit www.ek3.com
